One of the projects that I have been working on is a series of Greeting Cards with a one word theme to them. And the word I decided to begin with was “Grace”. This is a word that has much meaning for me as it has for most of my life. I think now as I have gotten older, the significance of the word has gotten much clearer for me.
In one sense, Grace is what I hope I would have after a challenge or an intensely difficult experience. Perhaps it is that thing that gives us the strength to make it through that period. Maybe it is that which helps us hold on to our dignity and integrity. Or could it be that it is our dignity and integrity itself? Coming upon us in our greatest need:
In one moment
Life was blessed
Filled up with riches
That I’d never guessed.
And through a new prism
New views to find
With new thoughts to hold
In a brand new mind.
Then through the Light of the setting sun
I opened my heart to everyone
I saw the Spirit in every face
In every creature and every place.
And there in the forest I finally heard
The simple clear message of one single Word
And standing alone in that special place
There came on the wind….the sound of Grace.
And Grace is also an experience of joy and wonderment. A chance to laugh and shout out loud………
So I set myself off down that long open road
With the Wayfarer’s shoes on my feet…
It’s the kick in my heels and the song in my throat
