2011 Comes to a Close

A lot has happened since I went to Ireland last May. It was a great trip, not only visiting Dublin & Glendalough again, but the experience of being in Northern Ireland and seeing what it has become (a great place!) but also grasping where it has come from. It was a moving experience for me (to say nothing of some beautiful scenery!). I will be posting photos soon.

But something grand happened right after I came home. My niece, Michelle, and her partner, Justin, on May 23rd, gave birth to my great-nephew, Kingston. Here is a photo of the little guy (though he’s strong like bull!) taken on December 9. I have taken a whole bunch of photos and will be giving him, and his parents, there own page soon.

Ross Castle

Hello folks,

Here is a photo of Ross Castle, near the town of Killarney where I went a year and a half ago. I am planning a new trip, in May of 2011 and I am hoping to see some similar impressive pieces of historical architecture. This year’s trip will include a few days in Dublin, then up to Belfast, over to Derry and then a few days in Donegal hiking through the Glenveigh National Park!

A Different Step

This was definitely ‘a different step’ for me. This photo is from my first visit to Ireland, some four years ago. This was a beautiful scene looking north towards Galway Bay, with the town of Galway in the far distance. I’ve been to Ireland three times since then and I am going back for a two week visit in three months. Some day I will have to sit down and write an essay on all the different feelings I have about this special place. This is one of my favorite photos so I hope you enjoy.
